With an upcoming acquisition on the horizon, mPulse knew there was an opportunity to use the announcement to boost their visibility in the market. At the same time, they were also looking to increase their overall brand awareness with high-priority audiences, particularly in the health plan leadership, technology and business/investor sectors. The goal was to position the company for future growth and investment. The Solution
The Walker Sands team took full advantage of mPulse’s major company milestones to secure media coverage and position the brand as an industry leader. In just a two-year period, our team served as a strategic partner and guided media outreach around mPulse’s acquisition of The Big Know, followed a year later by their acquisition of Healthcrowd as well as a strategic majority investment by technology PE firm PSG. Outreach to media outlets that targeted mPulse’s key audiences aimed to build excitement around the company’s growth story while highlighting its unique combination of tech capabilities, which use conversational AI and cinematic health streaming content to move members to take specific actions in support of their own health.
While company announcements provided cornerstone opportunities of the program, a steady cadence of thought leadership combined with strategic media outreach further built out mPulse’s brand awareness.
To showcase mPulse Mobile and its executive leadership as visionary thought leaders, our team focused our pitches on timely topics like health engagement strategies for overcoming vaccine hesitancy, improving health equity with tailored content, and applying behavioral science for health tech innovation. We targeted healthcare, technology and business press outlets for media interviews and bylined articles to further build mPulse’s profile among key audiences.

The Results
Walker Sands’ strategic media relations program helped put mPulse Mobile on the map, positioning it for further growth and investment, while also building a steady cadence of brand-building thought leadership in the periods between key company announcements.
Since the start of the engagement, the program landed 82 placements, with continuous coverage in top-tier business, healthcare insurance and pharmacy trades including Forbes, Fortune, Healthcare IT News and Crain’s New York Business. Of the 82 placements, 40% included a backlink to drive traffic and leads to mPulse’s website.
