From data-driven campaigns to strategic funding announcements, our public relations experts continue to produce exceptional results for our clients. This week, we were honored to have our work recognized at the PRSA Puget Sound Summit Awards, where our Seattle team took home two wins for our PR programs with LevelTen Energy and Visier.
The PRSA Summit Awards showcase outstanding contributions to the public relations industry in the Puget Sound area, and it’s an honor to be recognized among this year’s top PR campaigns.
Here’s a recap of the award-winning work:
Shining a Spotlight on Big Tech’s Investment in Renewable Energy With Expert PR
Our media relations strategy for LevelTen received a Summit Award in the “Institutional Programs” category. When LevelTen secured a new round of funding in Q3 of 2021, the cleantech company looked to Walker Sands to garner national and local coverage of this success. To make a splash across media types, including venture capital, tech, local and energy outlets, the Walker Sands team created a PR strategy that leveraged brand storytelling and strategic outreach to ensure timely and impactful coverage.
Two weeks prior to the news launch, Walker Sands began exclusive and embargoed outreach to key media outlets. With VC activity picking up across the tech industry, the team leaned on strong storytelling to entice reporters, including showing the connection between Biden’s aggressive climate goals and how Google, venture capitalists and traditional energy companies were rising to the challenge by investing in LevelTen’s renewable transaction infrastructure. When the news of the funding round broke in late August, Walker Sands distributed a press release and conducted aggressive media outreach to reach additional relevant reporters in local, VC and energy outlets, followed by a week of vigorous post-launch follow-ups to secure as much media coverage as possible.
This multifaceted media outreach strategy resulted in a great variety and volume of coverage for LevelTen, including an exclusive with The Wall Street Journal and numerous placements in local outlets including Puget Sound Business Journal and The Seattle Times. Walker Sands also secured 26 pieces of coverage in key VC and energy outlets such as Axios, Fortune and Canary Media.
Data-Driven Campaign Elevates Visier in Crowded HR Tech Market
Coming off the heels of a PRSA Skyline Award win, our data-driven campaign for Visier received a Summit Award in the “Marketing Communications” category. In May 2021, experts predicted a mass exodus from the workplace, coined “The Great Resignation.” While there was anecdotal evidence of this trend, conclusive data had not yet been presented to prove its existence or impact. Visier, however, had anonymized, standardized workforce data that could prove the trends that were actually happening in the market. To take advantage of this opportunity, Walker Sands developed a series of data-driven assets focusing on resignation trends and employee burnout to solidify Visier as an expert on these topics.
To support the launch of the data-driven campaign, Walker Sands executed broad media outreach to gain traction for each individual report, as well as thought leadership pitching to elevate Visier’s key thought leader Ian Cook’s national profile as a Great Resignation expert.
Throughout the second half of 2021, Walker Sands secured 120 total media placements for the campaign, 53 of which were in top-tier outlets. The team also secured 14 thought leadership placements for Ian Cook, successfully elevating his profile and solidifying him as a Great Resignation expert in national, mainstream media.
