Overview
The Research & Insights Strategist owns deliverables within marketing and brand strategy projects, leads independent research projects, and supports sales, providing strategic insights and ensuring high-quality deliverables. This role is crucial in transforming data into actionable insights that inform strategic decisions for clients and prospects.
Key Responsibilities:
Data Collection and Analysis:
- Conduct detailed first and third-party qualitative and quantitative research, including collecting, cleaning, and analyzing data from various sources, and turning it into actionable takeaways for internal agency and client teams
- Lead Qualitative Research: Conduct one-on-one interviews and focus groups with internal and external client stakeholders, including the development of discussion guides and assessment of key themes
- Lead Quantitative Research: Design and manage surveys using tools like SurveyMonkey, oversee vendor relationships, and analyze findings
- Utilize statistical methods to identify trends, patterns, and correlations within research, market and reporting data
Market Research:
- Conduct market research to support brand and marketing strategy development for internal and client teams
- Monitor and analyze industry trends, competitor activities, and market dynamics to provide strategic insights and areas of client opportunity
Insights Generation:
- Transform data into actionable insights for internal and client teams
- Provide actionable recommendations based on research findings to support internal and client decision-making across brand, marketing and business decisions
Reporting and Visualization:
- Prepare topline reports, dashboards, and presentations to communicate research findings
- Utilize presentations, charts and visualization tools to present quantitative data in an easily understandable format
Client Projects:
- Act as a consultant for internal teams and clients, providing strategic insights and informed recommendations
- Lead smaller research projects end-to-end with support from Director or VP
- Own research deliverables within large projects and account work, ensuring timelines are met and quality standards are upheld
- Participate in client meetings to present findings and discuss strategic implications
Collaboration:
- Collaborate with cross-functional agency team members on various projects, sharing insights,contributing to a collaborative and innovative work environment, and ensuring accuracy and relevance on research outputs
Business Development:
- Support Strategy + agency sales efforts by providing research insights and contributing to proposal developmentHelp to grow and refine the Research & Insights service offering, contributing to the department’s evolution
Requirements + Qualifications:
Must-haves
- 2-4 years of experience in research or related field
- Proven experience leading and executing research deliverables
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills, with proficiency in statistical analysis tools
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work with large datasets
- Effective written communication skills to distill data and research findings into actionable insights and strategy recommendations
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Experience working with survey collection tools like SurveyMonkey, Zoho, or Typeform
- Strong understanding of qualitative research methods
- Basic understanding of earned, owned and paid media strategies
- Willingness to learn and apply new skills
- Willingness and ability to work with a remote team via communication and project management tools like Zoom, Slack, and Trello (you don’t need to be experts in those particular tools)
Nice-to-haves
- Experience working with survey vendors to gather quotes, program surveys, and manage survey responses
- Familiarity with marketing principles, channels, and basic channel strategy for application of research
- Basic understanding of digital marketing tools and tactics, especially around SEO, SEM and paid media
- Proficiency in data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)
- Experience working in fast-paced agency environment
- Experience in B2B research or marketing
- Comfort and experience using AI and similar tools to aid data collection and analysis
