Media Database Specialist
|
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain media databases that will be used to seek
PR placements for our clients. Requires stellar web research abilities
and mastery of outsourced media databases (e.g. MediaMap).
- Configure and build HTML newsletters and PR pitches for outbound
sending. You must be familiar with HTML editing via text files
and via Macromedia Dreamweaver.
- Assist with preparation of press materials, pitches, and newsletters.
Others will typically write these, but you may be responsible
for making them stronger and will be asked to provide thoughtful
feedback.
- Execute outbound outreach campaigns via email and fax to the
media on behalf of Walker Sands clients.
- Assist with follow-up requests from editors and journalists.
- Master media search and broadcast software.
- Technical background, journalist training, and/or entrepreneurial
experience preferred.
- Intense attention to detail.
- Superb writing skills. You must have an obsession with grammar
and the ability to take mediocre writing and make it stronger.
If typos make you angry, that's a good sign.
- Strong interest in the media, trends, and what constitutes a
good story. If you are a news addict and a journalist wannabe, you'll do well here.
- Superior organization skills.
- Strong ability to prioritize/multi-task and help others to do
so.
- A work ethic that goes well beyond simply showing up for work,
staying 9 to 5, and simply doing what you are told.
- Positive attitude in a deadline-oriented environment.
- Reports to the Account Supervisors for various clients.
- A media database specialist can either stay in the position
indefinitely or, after one year and only if opportunities are
available, transition to a more senior position. See Walker
Sands Career Path for additional information.
